I was scouting for Roger when Prosper won region II. The judges (Joe Edwards and Bernie Deangelo) called back two dogs for a run off to determine champion and runner up.I will say at this time it was no contest. The other dog, a pointer,(which,by the way we have never heard from since)had run the previous day as had Prosper. That day was hot and many a dog had succumbed to the heat. Even Prosper slowed in the last minute or two but still had enough in him to end up going away. The other dog I had watched run and never did like him. I gave up watching him half way around. Right after I stopped watching him he began to find birds. When the heats were all through the judges could not come to a concensus of which of the two dogs to place where, so they called for a run off the next day. The next day dawned as being very cool. We broke the two dogs away. The pointer broke away first since my hand was caught in Prospers collar, which gave the pointer a head start of ten or more yards. however, by the time they had reached about 100 yards(give or take) Prosper was already ten yards ahead of the pointer. NO CONTEST AFTER THAT. Prosper went on to have multiply finds, always out front, looking like the way a champion should look. In the meantime we had no idea where the pointer was,not handling worth a hoot. Deangelo was following Prosper by this time and road up to Roger and said"You've convinced me." The end of a great weekend for Prosper.
