Teachers aren't GOD- they're not always right. If you don't think he's being fair, complain. Not to him, though, cuz then he'll just get all bitchy towards you (been there, done that, bought the "I passed grade 10 math with 50%" t-shirt...). Talk to the principal (or vice-principal, whoever's nicer). If you can, bring another person with you, or make a list (kinda like a petition) to show that you're not alone in your feelings. Just don't whine. Principals don't like whiny kids. lol

Anyways... I'm having... issues, shall we say, with my English teacher. Biggest bastard ever. We had to do these essays (1000 words) on a subject that he chose (yeah, fun, eh?), and my topic was bioterrorism. Anywho, I handed in my first draft, which I was quite proud of, and it comes back with all this writing all over it. He asked about 15 questions about things that didn't "make sense"... but I had ANSWERED all but one of those questions!! And I'm not the only one who got comments like that- everyone that I talked to had similar comments. And THEN... I "fixed it up", to his specifications, and when I presented it, I got a LEVEL 2. Now, in the new Ontario curriculum, we have levels, not grades or percentages- a level 1- is a barely-pass, and a level 4+ is an above average pass (does that make sense? Like, a level 1- would be like 50%, and a 4+ is like 95%.) So yeah, I got a 2. That's about 65%. On an essay which I did exactly how he told me to- I adressed every one of his comments, did EXACTLY what I was told to... he even said it was "very well written"... yet I get a 2. I think the highest mark was a 3 (75%). And THEN he says that during my presentation, I didn't look up ONCE. Uh, YEAH, I did.. I was looking back at Asna and Michella and Jay and Mellie the whole time- I remember that CLEARLY, cuz Jay kept winking at me and mouthing, "hey poopsie" the whole time, trying to make me laugh.
And this is just the beginning. We're reading George Orwell's 1984, and he does these readng quizzes every Tuesday- and he makes up these INANE questions that have no relevance to anything- like, things that you'd only know if you were LOOKING for the answers... what colour something was, how many of these were there... And he keeps making us do these grammar sheets on FUCKING COMMA SPLICES (which you should fucking know not to do if you're in University english... ARGH)... I swear to god, we've done nothing all year but inane reading quizzes, comma splice sheets, and questions on short stories. And that essay. He's SUCH a bastard. I have a 3 at midterm. I USUALLY have a 4. HOW in the fuck did I drop from 85% to 70% when I've done NOTHING differently!? Christ. At any rate, if I get one more unfair assessment, I'm going straight to Mr. O'Brien. Our principal rocks. :)

So yeah, that was long... but I needed to get that out. Good luck with your teacher struggle!!
