Date Posted: 21:52:27 02/26/02 Tue In reply to: Patrick 's message, "Re: phil." on 19:50:16 02/26/02 Tue anyway, i believe you about the flyers and to be quite honest i didn't think much of robbie S when i met him a few times backstage at temple bar music centre. i'm not sure how he's going to finance the far east etc, i guess he's relying on the revs to explode over there or something. They guy's a chancer. He does have ambition, like i keep saying, but he just has too much for his circumstances. Forgive me, I might not be making much sense today coz I'm getting a bit of a cold. I got rained on at lunch time today, soaked to the skin, and they wouldn't let me go home. Anyway, the Revs might be seen as more of a big thing over there. I don't know, they might be more into that end of things. Having never been there, I can't really say! i'm relly surprised by your story about rory, it seems so out of character for him to do something like that. i dunno, maybe he was having a bad day and took it out on you, i doubt it was personal. strange though... I'm sure he didn't mean anything personal, but I was kinda off-put by that. And I'd made my decision to leave TI quite a while before hand anyway yeah, i agree about not argueing, anyway, dito to you seeming decent and you come across very intelligent too. you phrase your answers well. Much thanks! I'm glad an amicable arrangment could be, uh, arranged. (definately off-air today) actually, i lied about my band, we're not together right now, we broke up about 8 weeks ago. we mainly gigged around the local scene and in dublin and drogheda the odd time (i'm in dundalk by the way). the live music scene is pretty dismal at the minute and there's not many venues you can play. it has been helped in recent times with the resurgence of rock and metal and the abundance of little grungy kids with slipknot hoodys prowling the streets, but there's a lot of room for improvement. Yeah, I agree. there's very few bands on the scene that'd I'd rate. NPB, Pin (good live, crap demo, and I kinda used to hang out with them for a brief time), Corrupted (death metal - not my scene, but good at what they do), X-Constant (who have had some serious bugs, but I've been in rehearsal with them and they've got one of the best drummers in Ireland) would be some examples - being mainly metal coz it's what I"minterested in. There's a retro-rock band from wexford called Sulk worth checking out, and The 8th Day who play kinda emo-core Incubus meets earthtone9 kinda stuff. i'm doing my leaving this year as well by the way (i'm 18) so i know what you meen about lack of time etc (which is one of the reasons the band split up). stress..... Most definately! We're lucky to practice every three weeks. I turned 18 just over a week ago, and I'm pissed off I'm not able to take advantage of it! i play drums, started when i was 13. took up guitar quite recently as well but i would consider myself a drummer first and foremost. my music taste is also extremely eclectic. some of my favourite bands are: gomez (obviously), ben folds five, sigur ros, foo fighters, the whole southern californian punk scene, dj shadow, incubus, tom waits, beastie boys. i also listen to a lot of jazz and stuff too. I can't play bass for my life.. that's what i think. Some people say (or used to) that i"m better than average for as long as i've been playing.. which might've been true at one stage but i've been slipping lately. My band is hardcore metal/techno. We are over at www.twocubed.cjb.net (it's out of action at the mo) and www.mp3.com/twocubed. It's odd music! My taste goes from hardcore metal to emocore to emo to punk to rock to hip-hop to jazz to blues to classical to all sorts. My fave bands include Will Haven, earthtone9, Deftones, Raging Speedhorn, Faith No More, Prodigy, Led Zeppelin, Smashing Pumpkins, Incubus (love incubus), beasties (love the beasties!), Mos Def,Pharoahe Monch, Tool, Leftfield, Pearl Jam, Cypress Hill, nat King Cole and, obviously, Gomez.. I could go on i know what you meen about being called hippy. i get the same. you dress differently and people put you down. i'd rather be an individual than a sheep though. as for the retard comment, there's was seriously no offense intended, i'm glad you understand. yeah, i understand! it's not that i dress differently anymore, but i still get abuse. I just ignore people... give them a reason not to beat me up or say anything else! [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
