She seems so relieved to be back here where I know she feels safe. I found a conversation on line a couple of months ago and I wish I remembered where I read it. But this mom was talking about her 17 year old daughter and she was stressing when her daughter would turn 18 and leave home and be out of her control. She was a Psychiatrist with a practice in juvenile and teen therapy. She talked about how a lot of kids start to hold usually from a difficult poop or when confronted with school bathrooms. She said it is not a reflection on the parents which kids can be broken of it and which one go well into adult hood holding in their poop. For those it is as much a phobia as being afraid for examples of mice or snakes. These kids are afraid of their poop, won't look at it, want to never ever have to poop again. She said the best things parents can do for those kids that are headed towards adult hood and still pooping their pants is to stop the pooping in their pants. That success hopefully will inspire them when they are out on their own in the world to dislike pooping in their pants more than disliking that their body makes poop. So.....and I felt this myself all along. Don't let her smear her underwear. Don't give her that opportunity. I Will increase her Metamucil slowly over the next two weeks to where I am getting one or two bowel movements a day from her and in the mean time starting tonight, because it has been three days since I emptied her entire colon, she gets a suppository as soon as she gets here. On school nights she has to be here by 5:30 at the latest. She got here at 5:00. Her mom told me that her defiance and disrespect was even worse after they brought her home from the hospital clean out. I suppose if I were her I would not be in a cheery mood either if I had just had enema by mouth like Kristy would say. But she is just so calm and collected and doesn't sass me at all. When she got here I let her settle in a little as I was getting dinner ready and then I told her I would need a bowel movement before bed and did she want to go in and try or should we just do the suppository. She said she didn't feel like she needed to go. I told her that's okay but let's just go get it over with so you don't have to fret over it. She was pretty full. I didn't make her show me what I got out of her but I always insert as deep into the rectum as I can to get a good stimulation from the medicine and she had stool right there at the anus.
