Shelly

Glad to hear sitter is back with you, but so sad about what happened at the boarding school.

Here are some suggestions (not to be confused with the legal term 'medical advice') to help you establish or refine your routine for her (and your boys):

Metamucil: (I prefer Miralax because it is a fine granular almost powder like substance that is easy to measure and chemically inert but carries water to the colon without leaving a deposit on the colon walls that builds up with long-term use the way Metamucil does.): Best taken at the same time each day (preferably breakfast with milk or fruit juice). Because changes in dose take a day or more to have effect it is important to only make slight changes in dosage every 2-3 days to avoid over-correcting. Small changes over time will help you gain the control you want.

Clean outs: Once a month (or perhaps more often if you use Metamucil) you should give her a thorough clean out: (this maybe somewhat of a review). Start with a small enema / suppository to empty her rectum. Then slowly give her a large very warm soap and water enema using your nozzle gently inserted well up into her sigmoid colon with an amount sufficient to ensure the soap gets well up into her colon and then retained for 10 minutes. Follow this with two rinse enemas each with volume equal or slightly larger than the soap enema. Tell her you understand that this is unpleasant and quite uncomfortable, and try to help her understand this is necessary to maintain the effectiveness of the Metamucil/Miralax. She needs to understand that this should not be skipped or postponed because she feels the Metamucil is working OK. Don't change the Metamucil dosage for 2-3 days after the clean out.

Hugs to all of you. Hope all continues well. I leave the logistics to you.

- Joyce

Shelly,
Thanks for the update.
First how are the boys doing with sitter back at the wheel giving the enemas? I am sure they are still over the moon. I guess they did not mind someone else, the friend, being in there?

Kitten paw has been right on about it all. Sitter and friend are indeed plotting. This will be interesting to see how it plays out.
