I grew up in the 70's when doctors still made house calls. I had to have my tonsils out which required an overnight stay at the hospital. When you got home you were not allowed out for two weeks.
I could not take it after a week, so I went outside and got caught. My mother was so mad. She sent me to my room and called the doctor. He said he would stop by on his way home.
I was in my room, and the doctor came in and after the normal exam, he informed me I would have to have a shot just in case of infection. He also informed me it was going in my butt.
I started to resist, but I lost and the shot was given. He told my mother he would see me in a week and any other problems call.
After he left my mother also gave me a spanking on my already sore butt. I did not think of going outside again.

Faye, I had to get a shot of bicillin last week for my strep throat along with a prescription of antibodics for ten days. I tell you this was the worst shot I ever had, I blamed it on the male nurse that stuck me, but my mother was there also, she blamed the medicine I got.. Brenda

Your mom was correct, its the medication that causes the pain not the needle esp any pvk product like bicillin as its a very thick viscos medication, I had a bicillin shot a few yrs ago and it felt like there was a lump in my rump for a day and had a hard time walking too. You probably got a shot of bicillin G 1000 units just like i got and for the same thing a strep infection and i too had to take those pills for 2 weeks and those pills sucked as they caused some bad intestinal problems, IE the runs which is a side effect of oral antibiotics,, hope your felling better now and even if you are felling better you still have to take those pills for 2 weeks.
