Subject: dvd to vhs

can any one tell me about macrovision and how to defeat it? the other night i successfully recorded a movie (which was on dvd) to vhs, but when i tried another movie it did not work. i know macrovision stopped me from doing this but that one movie worked, does any one know why it did this?
