Any idea how to get HDTV streams onto a Macintosh harddrive for editing?

Alas, nothing new for us Mac Users.
And if the firewire port of the DVHS decks were by some miracle able to output an MPEG2 stream, I'm not sure regular software (iMovie, FCP) would be able to recognize the stream... Firewire is DV, not MPEG.
