Subject: copying dvd to vhs

I was copying dvd to vhs, i have a dvd hooked up to my vcr, than my vcr to my t.v, i was able to tape one movie but the other ones just flicker. I know macrovision stoppped me from taping the movie but why did that one movie work? I than tried another vcr, and i taped a movie, but i have no sound, can any one tell me whats happening? Thanks.
