Subject: WARNING: Shit happens :-(

Hi folks,

after 1 1/2 year of recording my JVC completly get rid of these dumb navigation data! ;-<

Isn't it wonderful to have app. 350 movies and it's documentations (app. 500 recordings all together!) on nearly 80 cassettes (yes, just 80!) without any navigation execept those old index marks which can't be set or deleted after recording.

Could it be worse?

Yes, it could.

Obviously JVC's smart-brainers have no usability division. Otherwise someone would have had think over what to do in situations with data loss (broken recorder, new model, ...).

Backup possibility via firewire? No!
Manual or automatic saving of the database to (digital!) tape? No!

Inserting cassette after cassette reading written data back to database and typing in the not stored information by hand?
How can you ask?

So, dear folks at JVC: What a beautiful piece of hardware, what an outstanding picture - but this is CRAP (which costed/costs nearly 2000 euro).

And the users? They should always make notes what they have recorded, when, how long, how, ...

Deeply depressed greetings,
Oliver

PS: For me, the JVC navigation is dead forever. Even if the recorder is repaired, that does *not* bring back the 500 recordings - back to the place where they belong. Hasta la vista, baby! ;->
