Subject: Missing colour on JVC HM-DR10000

Hi'
I've been using a JVC HM-DR10000 video recorder for around four months with no problem. Last week, however, it suddenly began playing back in black and white only. I switched it off at the mains for a while (a popular layman's device for trying to fix a problem!). When I turned it on again the colour was back but began to fade over the next hour or so until the picture was black and white once again. I've experimented with recording things on it when it is in this state and have discovered that the recordings are, in fact, made in colour when played back later after the machine has been rested. I also find that standard VHS and S-VHS recordings are unaffected and come out in colour.
Can anybody help me out by telling me what the hell is going on here, or will I have to get a new machine or spend the rest of my life watching black and white movies?
