DVHS has no better definition than the miniDV / DV / DVCam / DVCPro all have.
It just has a better data rate (14MB/s vs. 3,6MB/s) but the image size is still 720/576 (PAL).

Still, look at Thomas Vinterberg's film (Festen, 1999): it was shot with miniDV cameras (or DVCam - same image format, data rate and 4:2:0 compression [PAL]) and it looked fairly good (within the 'Dogma' limits...)

I don't think you could expect a portable DVHS.

In Japan though, the newer JVC DVHS decks can record an HD signal and some US studios recently announced a support for pre-recorded films on HD DVHS (called D-Theater). But, so far, nobody has seen any of those HD tapes...

>So, as far as I understand there are no dvhs cams and none to expect in the nearest future?????
In the nearest future: no.
In the near future: probably not
In the future: maybe perhaps...
