Subject: HM-DSR100RU shows limited colors. Suggestions

I recently bought a used HM-DSR100RU (JVC DVHS/receiver).

The receiver is showing a limited number of colors, like a full-color photo on a computer screen that is only using 256 colors instead of millions, very blotchy.

I have 2 other receivers all on one Dish 500, that are still working great. Dishnetwork tech support checked the setup with me and we replace cables just to be sure. Signal strength is fine.

My TV or cables don’t seem to be an issue. The unit actually records this “limited color” range to tapes (both digital and analog VHS tapes) that shows on any TV/VCR in the house. Also, local programs (basic analog cable) passes thru the unit to the TV and its appearance is fine. Any satellite channel looks like a bad rock video from the 80’s!:) So logic leads to something in the unit itself.

Hoping for an easy fix. Something that’s been over looked.
