Quality of a standard DVHS is already excellent (ie. far better than any of the DVD recorders, 14Mb/s vs 5Mb/s!).
With a HD capability, it should win or find a fair place on the market.

But remember that, way back in 1994, JVC thought DVHS would replace the VHS worldwide within 2 years...
The best format is rarely the one that wins, but if it works for you go grab it!
