Subject: vhs tape formats

I have an old but good vhs unit. I have used TDK Hi-Fi tapes for years and they have been great. They are getting old and worn and need replaced. I am trying to find a good quality tape to replace them with. Can I use D-VHS tapes since they appear to be cheaper per hour than S-VHS tapes?

Any advice or recommendations for blank tapes for frequent use time shift recording welcome.
