But Harmony had a choice. She could either stay with AI or go with the Pyramid-gang. She chose to go with her evilness. She also had the choice of feeding from Cordy, and chose not to. She even apologised to Cordy, although Cordy didn't realise what H was really apologising for!

So I disagree that vampires "CANNOT change what they are". Spike has had a couple of years of living - er, un-living? - amongst humans. He knows that he can, if he wants to, survive without feeding from them. Without the chip, he'll have to make the choice. Certainly, I agree that it is his nature to want to feed from them, but he knows he doesn't have to. It will be very interesting to see what path he chooses to take.

As to Buffy, well, it's my opinion that she has changed from the original Slayer-of-all, vampire or demon. From the first season onwards, it was pretty much a given that anything not human she came across was killable. In season 6, we can see that that is no longer the case. She has chosen not to slay several of the demons she has come across - one even came to her birthday party! Having said that, I'm pretty sure that if she came across a vampire whom she knew was chipped, say, like Spike, she probably would let him/her go. But we haven't seen another vampire like Spike. Those she kills, she seems either to meet on patrol, and they attack her first, or they are newly-arising, and therefore definitely un-chipped.
