Spikefeed

Dori's Spikefeed
back to episode 6.17 - Normal Again

Normal Again
Okay. The short version (long version to be posted Monday afternoon):

Spike and Buffy meet in the cemetery, she tells him the wedding didn't happen, he doesn't seem too concerned for Xander and Anya. Willow and Xander show up, Xander rags on Spike, Spike hits back verbally, Xander punches him.

Later, when the gang is trying to find the demon that poisoned Buffy, Xander and Spike are out hunting together. Spike lets slip that Buffy made him her "soddin' sex slave" but when Xander wants to know what the hell he's talking about, he passes it off as an alternate reality thing. They capture the demon, chain it up in Buffy's basement, hold it so Willow can get the samples she needs. Spike stays there while Willow and Xander go to make the antidote.

Next day, Willow brings Buffy the antidote. Spike comes up to check on her. Willow tells him to get Buffy to drink the stuff, and leaves. He asks, gently, if she's all right. She tells him he's not part of her life and needs to leave her alone. This pisses him off, after all he's just done to help her, and he tells her that the antidote won't do a thing for her martyr complex. She's addicted to misery, and that's why she won't tell the Scoobies about them. If she did, she might have to be happy, because they'd either understand and help her, or drive her out, and then she could be happy. In the dark. With him. He tells her either way, she'd be better off. He tells her to live, already. And let go of the hero trip for one second. They'd all be better off. Then, very seriously, he tells her that if she doesn't tell everyone about them, he will. He leaves, and after a moment, she pours the antidote in the trash can. Flash to the hospital, where she says she wants to get well.

The doctor tells her she has to get rid of those constructs that are holding her in the delusion--her friends. She takes Xander and Willow and ties them up down in the basement with the demon. She's going after Dawn, and at one point she's talking about how crazy her life really sounds, and she lets slip that she's been sleeping with Spike.

There's also mention of how lame this season's villains are (the Troika), by the doctor at the hospital, so I'm thinking there may be a purpose behind this whole mess of a season.

More details later...
