Subject: Willow's Rampage

I was a little suprised to see the teaser in Hercules summary that ended with "Willow realizes her mistake, too late" (or something too that effect)(So she won't be teh season 7 big bad). Yesterday I had dinner with a federal prosecutor and an assistant district attorney for major crimes (murder, rape etc). So I gave them the Willow/Warren scenario. After teh murder of her lover, Willow goes and amasses weapons and then tortures and kills Warren. According to both, crimes of passion are instantaneous reactions, not planned gatehring of power and torture. In view of the circumstances, the state would go for first degree murder with special circumstances (the torture), which is subject to the death penalty. Given the scenario, they both thought the state would ask for death. They also said the lack of Warren's body (which supposedly had been burned) would pose no impediment to the prosecution. They said there was no question what the law's and the state's position on this would be.

They did question whether the evidence would be there though (this is a different question, from our point of view, we have seen the murder, we don't question Willow's guilt). Would Buffy and/or Xander testify against Willow? Plus would a jury believe in such powerful magic? Doubtful, Willow's payment will be personal and magical, not by our justice system.

I realize that we need to wait for how thsi realy comes about, but ME is truly running into skiddish waters.
