Sky One had a few programmes on BtVS before the return of S6, and one of them was a documentary/fan magazine-type thing. It lasted an hour, and showed all the various sets. JM was sitting talking to the female British interviewer, and he wasn't being snarky, or anything. It was more a reaction to "How do you get on with SMG? Do you party?" sort of questions. I assume that he meant this took place after he knew he was coming back as a regular. And it was more on the lines of "She said it matter-of-factly - just so he'd know she wasn't being the snobby 'I'm the star of the show, so I don't mix" sort of person", just that, quite simply, she had a good working relationship with the people she mixed with, but that she wasn't going to be 'chummy'.

I wish I had it on tape, so I could reprint exactly what he said. It wasn't a big-deal kind of statement. And I'm not saying she hasn't since become good friends with any of them outside of work - several years have passed since she said it, after all! And if she had bad experiences on other shows, you couldn't blame her for being wary.
