Marie, I'd love to see that quote because it doesn't sound like something JM would say, nor something SMG would say. In addition, JM came on the show for 1 episode. It got extended to 1/2 season, then they brought him back as a featured guest in Season 3. He wasn't a regular until season 4.

As for the different networks, Buffy and Angel are both produced by Mutant Enemy. That is where the work is done, it would be highly unusual for major members of those casts not to come into contact. The shows are both owned by Fox Television (not the Fox Network), so they are filmed in Santa Monica. The shows are then sold to UPN and WB. The networks will have someone represent them at all the meetings.

As for SMG not being friends with the cast, as I mentioned above, SMG and AH are known to be best friends, so the comment just wouldn't make sense.
