Here's a question? If UBF is reformed, and Dr. Samuel Lee ends his reign, or God ends his reign, will those who are fighting against him come back to UBF. Will they once again be seen in the Chicago Center? Imagine, Amy and Jamie Young back. Imagine, Tom Fosler back? Will this happen? Maybe they can tell us.

Unless God told me in a practically audible voice to go back to UBF, I wouldn't go. I'm kidding, but I mean that God would have to spell it out PRETTY EXPLICITLY for me to every commit to UBF again after what I went through there. Nothing personal against those in it; it's just that there are a million great churches in the Chicagoland area so why would I give that up to go to a mediocre abusive church? (Even if Samuel Lee were removed from leadership and UBF were reformed, there's been too much slime going on for too long for it to be transformed into a healthy spiritual environment unless you practically started from scratch. Then again, God can do whatever he wants, so if he miraculously transforms UBF overnight, that's his perogative.) I personally don't see the value in sacrificing thousands of spiritual lives to keep an organization going. I understand how so many believe that they received their "mission" in UBF. I remember how my dad literally had to get kicked out to leave UBF because he
didn't want to abandon his mission (I think he's gotten past that by now, thank God!).

To place such high value on the perpetuation of an ORGANIZATION is unbiblical. It's like the Pharisees who struggled to maintain their status in society by placing all those rules on every one, even grumbling when Jesus healed people on the Sabbath. Everything will pass away except what Jesus says, so I really don't think we should sweat it.

I know I'm oversimplifying here, that many many many people would probably not know what to do with themselves if there were no UBF to guide them through life, that maybe many would even abandon the faith. Even if people were to leave the faith because UBF became defunct, that would be an indication to me that their faith was not grounded in Jesus to begin with. And God can call them back to him with or without UBF.

I think what we need is not so much a reformation of an organization called UBF, but a reformation of our own individual hearts and lives. I'm
not in UBF any more, but I recognize that I need to be reformed daily, or more like CONformed, to the image of Christ. This doesn't happen by being in a specific "group" or church. It happens by my allowing the Holy Spirit to transform me by his power, and by responding in obedience to God's call to walk with him in his Kingdom now in an intimate love relationship and friendship.

If we all followed Jesus the way he intends us to follow him, we wouldn't have to worry about Samuel Lee or other abusive leaders because we would not take their abuse and stand firm in our faith against such tactics. If you stand firm holding Jesus' hand and look at Samuel Lee (or whoever else is trying to strong arm you) straight in the eye, depending on the Holy Spirit, those demons will see that they're up against the Lord of Hosts, and either they (Samuel Lee or Abusive Leader) will stand down or kick you out of UBF. Either way, you'll be free in the Lord.

Again, I'm probably oversimplifying. But I really
think that a new constitution or new leadership won't change the core of UBF. We need something more radical than that, and I suppose only God knows what "that" is. Still, I keep praying that God would do "that" so that many who are in bondage now would be free to follow Jesus the way we were meant to follow him.
