I think your ideas of love are very good things, though I don't understand why you need faith in a religion to tell you this is desirable. I think, however, that these are good things. What troubles me is that you feel you will never attain this thing you seek in your lifetime.

I guess my answer is, when? If you believe it comes after death, this is the foundation of your faith, for it is the only thing you have said that demands faith. There is no proof that I know of, therefore your faith must be rooted to the fact that you expect to achieve a higher state of consciousness after death.

My next question is this: If we can agree that love is a great thing and should be pursued, why then should faith in an after life. It seems to me that these two thoughts are not in the same category.
