I saw it last night and was not exactly disappointed, but was left a bit flat. I agree that the plot was rather poor. What struck me as odd was the way they set up the story. There was no real mystery. Everyone seemed to be a magician, so what's so special? Harry was blande, blande, blande! Everyone kept saying how special he was, but it certainly wasn't clear why! Then, he returns home to his ugly family, another thing that didn't make much sense to me. Oh, well. I am overly critical. The kids loved it. I think it would have been more interesting if they had given Harry an actual character and built up his conflict with Voldermort. Anyway... that's my two cents. Do I get change?
