I have not read the books past "The Hobbit" so I didn't really know what to expect.

I liked the movie. I thought it was pretty good. I liked all of the fight scenes, especially the ones with the elf bowman, Legolas. He is in my second favorite scene in the movie. The part where he stabs an orc in the eye with an arrow and then nocks it and kills another orc. I like how they portrayed him in the fight scenes. He always seemed to be cool, calm and collected, which is what I would expect of someone that could practically live for eternity.

My favorite scene would have to be the fight with the Balrog. I just thought it was cool that mortal weapons could not hurt it but Gandalf could stand up to it. That just made him more powerful and mysterious and I think that is cool.

One complaint I have would be that the movie seemed to drag at the end. I am not for sure why, maybe I thought there was too much dialog or that the movie wasn't really going anywhere at that point I don't know for sure. I will be able to explain this after I see the movie again. It could have been because I didn't totally understnad why Frodo would want to go on alone with orcs and ring wraiths after him.

There also didn't seem to be a definite end. I know this is a trilogy and all that, but there was no mile marker accomplished by the fellowship when the movie ended. They just split up and the movie ends. I would have liked it better if they would have showed the halfings being being saved from the orcs or anything to say "hey we actually accomplished something, you can end the movie now."
