I like your dual definitions: gross selfishness and the "self-serving conduct that leaves others needing." I put it in quotes because it was a nice turn of a phrase. And, I think that both describe what I was saying.

Here's some (probably) unnecesary detail - Each of the 10 commandments are rules against unselfishness. Some are obvious, such as not stealing or sleeping w/someone's spouse. Others, such as Honor thy Father and Mother require a little thought (take care of those that love you, even when you don't want to or its inconvenient).

But, as I stated somewhere up above in the messages, these are not the sole definition of sin and selfishness.

Hmm - the least amount of selfishness. I don't know. How unselfish can a person become? I don't know. Not many people have even come close to pushing the envelope on that type of behavior, sad to say.

Of course, the flip side of that is: If you become super-unselfish, are you doing it so everyone will notice? If so, that's selfish.

But, I try to live in the real world, and in my real world most people are pretty decent but no one is super-unselfish and they also expect a little recognition for doing a good turn (such as thank you, etc.)

The CNHS English department would be very disappointed to see the number of my sentences that start with "and" and "but." But, its not the end of the world. And, if it was, who knew that I had that power?
