On the one hand -- I agree with Mark. Of course the two-parties (which to me really seems to be one party with inner-party rivalries like we saw in communist Russia), will constantly say you can't vote for any other, because the vote is meaningless. Doesn't that really end up saying, your vote is meaningless, as a result? If you can't choose who you can vote for, what choice do you really have?
On the other hand, I do not think "voting" really is a place where most social change can or will take place. There is a slim chance it can, but especially in the US, we are so broken, as a people, I see voting as more of a way to create the illusion of freedom then allow it.
But saying this, I do think the votes given to other parties are looked into, and are considered, even slightly. It makes your voice of discontent heard, even if the end result is slight. But I think it does _more_ than voting for the pre-deterimined choices.
