Subject: Lurker Films HP Lovecraft Collection

If you have not seen them, the annual Lovecraft Film Festival has started releasing its award-winning entries in DVD packages. Some of them have been good amateur productions, and a couple of them have been professional tv-produced shows. All in all, having now all three which have been released, I can say they are enjoyable and worth getting for any Lovecraft fan.

Of the three DVDs, there are some really good bits and some which do not satisfy as the others. Each features one lengthy story and then a collection of shorts. The first DVD released a well done production of "Cool Air" and a few shorts -- the shorts were not as exciting as Cool Air itself.

The second released a made-for-UK TV pilot (which was not as good as I wished), a short 30 min edition of "The Terrible Old Man" which I thought was great, and a couple music videos based upon Lovecraft.

The third had the awesome "Out of Mind" story (probably the best of all the DVDs) and "The Music of Erich Zann."

There are extras on each one, but I have to say, if you want to try one -- get the third first. "Out of Mind" is a cross between a Lovecraft biopic and a modern Lovecraft-based story (a young Carter inherits an old book from his uncle, which leads him to discover the writings of Lovecraft... and eventually to a dream-encounter with Lovecraft himself).
