All I am really saying (and admittedly I said it poorly) is that taxation is just another economic lever to adjust the economy, and if growth needs to be slowed for some reason, then taxes should be increased, and if growth needs to be increased, then taxes should be decreased.

The government should increase or decrease taxes as the economy needs the adjustment, NOT as a political stance to buy favour from the masses.

All I meant was that if the economy needs to be slowed a little, then I am fine with a tax hike. We have the lowest tax rate in the free world. If the economy needs a boost, lower it. It doesn't matter all that much to me.

I would prefer the corporations take the hit before I do, then the wealthy.

By not taxing the poor, I mean one should not increase sales tax, which hits the poor harder than it does the rich.
