Author: Your intrepid Reviewer - Mt. Healthy Mountaineer
Subject: Adilbrand Noblesword's Hall of Warrior Review of Books: "Arrogance" by Bernard Goldberg

Genre: Non-fiction
Published: 2003 by Warner Books

Synopsis: Arrogance continues the themes established by Goldberg concerning the media that Goldberg laid out in his previous book "Bias." Goldberg was a long-time reporter for CBS News. You may remember him from the TV news magazine 48 Hours. He currently works for HBO Sports doing in-depth sports stories) His main theme states that the mainstream, elite media (the major networks, NY Times, the biggest city papers) is biased with a liberal political slant - not because of a giant conspiracy, but because the cultures of those newsrooms attract a certain type of reporter and the spectre of being politically incorrect scares the hell out of the few that think differently. The premise of both books was illustrated wonderfully by a quote from a Washington Post reporter that claimed that she did not know a soul that voted for the Republican candidate for president that year. Can any of you claim that you don't know a soul that did not vote for either of the two mainstream political parties? (He has a similar comment from a Washington Post columnist who claimed she knew no one who was for the Iraq war - not a soul). His point is that this reporter and her like-minded colleagues are hopelessly out-of-touch with the rest of America.

My review:

This book is wonderfully illustrated with wonderful quotes and interviews throughout that illustrate his points. I have not read his previous book since I heard him speak many times on the radio about it, but I found "Arrogance" to be so well-written and interesting that I'll be sure to pick it up as well. I could give you a plethora of details from the book, but if you are really that interested, give the book a read. I give this book an "A+"

By the way, if you don't remember Goldberg, here's a link to a photo of him: click here.
