Wow. Could be interesting. On the other hand, Howard's characters haven't yet been handled well on screen. Although Conan the Barbarian was great, it really wasn't all that true to Howard. And the less said about Red Sonja and Kull, the better.

Of all Howard's characters, why did Conan become iconic? His writer friends preferred Kull and Solomon Kane, and it seems to me that, in general, the comments of later writers have also expressed a preference for other Howard characters over Conan. Yet, from the first, Conan was a hit with the people who mattered, the readers. He was enough of a hit that they wanted him reprinted later. And I don't think there is any question that his books have far outsold all Howard's other characters -- probably all of them combined.

What is it about this character that is so appealing to the masses?
