Hard to explain, but...

He is everything that people wish that they are. I've known quite a few ppl who can't abide by society, by rules, complain about the government, complain about living conditions, but in the end, they adapt. Here is someone who does not adapt but conquers and overcomes any or all situations. So, one loooks up to him. Wishes that one could do such things in real life. Being in the military, a lot of ppl escape the clutches of the rules that suffocate what you can and can not do. No matter how old you are, it all matters with what rank you are that determines what you can or can not do. I've known a few ppl who are 30 to 35 who are not allowed to stay late at night, just due to their rank (joined late in the military). So, IMHO, most look up to conan or other figures like him. Now the role playing aspect is more like an out, something that allows them to "become one with conan".

If none of this makes sense, then who cares, I'm not one who will conform to your ideals. Unless ye order me to...
