Subject: Attack of the Clones Reactions

Ok, I got to see SW:II today. I have a few brief reactions I will give here, and would be interested in what others have to say.

The story between Anakin and Padme was lame. It didn't work. IT would have been better to have shown scenes of them getting together, hanging out, and hinting they are getting to know each other better -- without having any dialogue or silly scenes. This would have cut 20 mins of the film and made it into a tighter, better story.

The Obi-Wan plot I liked. It was a bit slow at times, but in general I thought it was what saved the movie. It reminded me of what I wanted in Batman Returns: a detective story, with action at the end.

The Palpatine story line with Count Dooku I think was well crafted, and is showing some strengths. It is reminding me of Frank Herbert and "plots within plots." I am sure Lucas has followed Herbert's lead in this one.

Yoda was interesting when fighting, though I think, it was a little unbelievable. Maybe a second viewing will be better.

Overall: better than Episode I, and this should have been Ep I instead. It would have led to a more interesting trilogy, I think. Now it is only two new stories worth watching. I would give it a B to B+ -- because I like political intrigue and detective stories -- but the action, even at the end, just seemed stale at points... nice try..
