I just saw Episode II and I really liked it. Here's some thoughts:

From what I've read, I was expecting the Annakin/Padme scenes to be drivel, but I thought they made the movie - it is in these scenes that you sow the seeds of Annakin's future destruction - its all in the look on his face as he refuses to take no for an answer (that is the essence of the Dark Side, is it not? Duty comes after satisfying one's self). Hayden Christianson's (spelling?) acting is superb - he is more than equal to the challenge of Annakin/Darth Vader.

Unfortunately, Jar Jar (I love it when Obi-Wan blows him off) is replaced by C3PO ("What a drag!" and "I'm beside myself!"), although I did like C3PO's comment that R2 does an awful lot of thinking for a mechanic. The question is, for me, why does R2 even bother hanging out with that big golden geek?

Annakin's big scene when he confesses his slaughter of the Sandpeople takes place in the same room (or a similar room)in which Luke is complaining that he wants to go out into the galaxy - nice symbolism - they're are both going out into uncharted territory.

Padme finally acts like her daughter - outspoken and willing to kick butt and be "spunky". I think I'm in love...

There's a nice bit of cinematic synchronicity - the end of Episode 2 ends with Annakin and Padme looking off the balcony with R2 and C3PO standing to the side. It reminded me of the end of the Empire Strikes Back with Luke and Leia looking out of the starship with C3PO and R2D2 standing to the side.

I love the irony of Yoda leading Stormtroopers.

Speaking of Yoda - remember how Yoda always telling Luke to not let his friend's danger cloud his judgement - perhaps this stems from Yoda's choice to save Obi-Wan rather than catch the bad guy.

If I were to edit anything, it would be the big chase scene at the beginning (it was beautifully done but I got a bit bored with the swooping and diving after a while) and Padme's trip back home - you could have shaved 5-10 minutes from these 2 scenes and not change the plot at all.

I also liked that the movies are all now bound by the theme of "Father vs. Son" and "Teacher vs. Student" (Annakin vs. Obi Wan, Luke vs. Darth Vader, Count Dooku vs. Yoda). The dangers Luke faces in the Empire Strikes Back are now enhanced because we see the tragedies that have followed when the student decides to strike out on his own in the past.

Since no one has done it yet, I will rank them in my orer of preference:

Episode IV
Episode II
Episode V
Episode VI - the problem with Episode VI is the Ewoks - it reminds me too much of the silliness of Episode I. For me, they tend to overwhelm the climactic Emperor scene - which is too bad. That's a heck of a scene.
and Episode I
