Subject: Review Doctor Who: The Maltese Penguin

Now there is some fame to Frobisher. He is a companion of the Doctor who has never been seen on screen, and has mostly been seen in his comic book adventures from Doctor Who Magazine. He is a shape-shifter who most of the time was seen in the form of a penguin, a shape that he prefered. He was a companion to the 6th Doctor, but in this 70 minute adventure, he is mostly on his own (the 6th Doctor makes his appearance several times in the story, trying to get Frobisher to come back adventuring with him.. but Frobisher is trying to be his own person, having the joy and experience of his own private adventure).

The story itself is a rip off of typical gumshoe stories, and Frobisher plays the gumshoe, highered by a beautiful dame. He gets himself caught in the middle of an interplantery "mob" bosses' plans, and he must find his own way out, and save the day -- before he goes back to the Doctor to resume their adventures.

The story is good, light humor, and worth the money I paid for it (it was free!). It's not classic, but it isn't bad. I would give it a B, with the reservation that one listens to it for a light story, and knowing it is not a typical Doctor Who story with the Doctor only appearing most of the time telling Frobisher "come back with me, I just saved the universe again, wouldn't it be fun if you were there with me?"
