Subject: Review: Doctor Who, The Spectre of Lanyor Moor

Now this is the best of the the Doctor Who stories I have listened to yet. I ordered it because I heard it had good reviews, it was a 6th Doctor story, and it had the 6th Doctor finally meeting up with the Brigadier.

As the title suggests, it also is a "horror" related story -- although in the typical sci-fi Doctor Who way. The story takes place in the UK, where an archeological dig is taking place. The story is similar to the Daemons, the Image of the Findhl, and City of Death, but it has enough of its own flavor as well, that it works good and does not just seem like a re-write of old tales. Colin Baker does an excellent job bringing the Doctor into audio (he is considered the best of the Doctors for doing that), and just listening to this story, one wishes that his stories in general were like this when he was on the air -- and one can easily imagine this story being done live - and if so, perhaps he would not have suffered as greatly as he did. His Doctor shines, sadly it takes this long for stories that were worthy of his era..

I would give the CD an A-. It is not perfect, but it certainly is much better than I would have expected, and certainly worth listening to for Doctor Who fans.
