First, I'm not looking for slack. I believe there is an absolute truth. You believe in tolerance. You cannot be tolerant of my view for two reasons: 1) you feel like I am condemning you 2) you are feeling condemnation b/c the HOly Spirit is trying to break through the barriers you have constructed to THR TRUTH

Second, there are grammar and syntax flaws in the bible. Some much graver than you guys have previously mentioned. It does not change the fact that I believe it is God inspired. And as I read the Bible, the Holy Spirit illuminates it for me and I become 'a part of the story'.

Third, I do question my beliefs. The bible even says to. But, I keep coming back to the Cross. It's the central event in our history. I believe the evidence is overwhelming.

Why do I believe so strongly? Am I gullible or weak minded or brain washed? I don't believe so.

John wrote towards the end of his gospel that 'the man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth and he testifies so that you also may believe.' (John 19:35)

Here is what convinces me most about the true nature of Jesus Christ. People don't willingly give their lives when they know what they are dying for is a lie.

11/12 of the disciples were martyred. Peter, nailed to a Cross upside down, STephen was stoned, others crucified, killed by spears, stoned, etc.

The only one who wasn't killed was John. But, they tried. He was boiled in oil, stoned and when they couldn't kill him exiled to Patmos with theives and murderers.

Look at Peter. The day Jesus was being crucified were was he? Hiding and denying His Lord.

In the book of Acts, after the coming of the Holy Spirit, after the Great Commission, we see a different Peter. (Same guy, new attitude.) He had been changed by the resurrected Christ. He went from asking dumb questioned and saying dumb things to leading 3,000 people in one day to the Lord.

Each of you can be changed by the same resurrected Christ. Maybe you think you're good people. And from what I've read that's what you think. But that simply doesn't cut. I'm sorry. Be mad at God about it, but tell Him about it and let HIm bring healing to your heart.

A prayer: Father, God, in the past you have hardened hearts to serve your purposes. Whether the reasons seem good to us or not, it doens't matter. Your eternal plans have been and are continuing to be carried out. I pray again for the guys in this room. Blees "mt. healthy mountaineer" in his teaching. Let him be a light for you in his classroom setting. For "bill, mark and vincent", Lord open their closed hearts, remove the scales from their eyes, and reveal the light of your truth and the revelation of your Son, Jesus Christ. In the name above all names, Jesus Christ, AMEN.
