The point of all these conversations, so far as I can guess, is not really about the bible's inconsistencies. Anyone who looks at the book critically, with no preconceived notions of its authorship or its divine status, can say that the book is not flawed. It is. If you cannot admit this, then you must be as guilty as the man who does his pedophilia/gay research and wishes to find certain statistics and ignore the ones he doesn't like.

I think everyone on this board would be much more willing to cut you some slack, Abba, if you could admit that the bible is flawed but you believe in it anyway. I have said this before, a man may call himself a Buddhist, a Hindu, or a Muslim, but not agree with 100% of what these religions teach.

We must evaluate our beliefs or what good are they? If we accept them blindly, then there is no personal reflection involved and the experience becomes something that is totally mandated to us from outside influences, like pigs fed by a farmer, we gobble it up without questioning why we are being fed so handsomely. This is a fine life, of course, but it is hollow and without true meaning, as obviously the pigs do not know the truth. Yet, if the pigs did know the truth and still accepted the feeding for it provided them with the best possible life regardless of its end, then we must say they have a good philosophy and one that can withstand honest questioning.

No one is asking you to abandon your religion. We only ask that you question everything about it without expecting to find exactly what you are looking for. Test it. Scrutinize it. If you find that it is flawed, then should this be the end of your faith? Not necessarily. It only means that men who write sometimes make mistakes. We may still believe in the general principles of what is being said.
