I did a quick search and the only references I found were talk of re-scoring the added in parts from the special edition because they did not receive any new music and a suggestion to re-score the end of Episode 1 because last-second editing by Lucas made it choppy in the minds of some. (I don't remember if it was or not - I only saw it the one time). I agree, the original 3 do not need re-scoring. The scoring is damn-near perfect - the theme for Darth Vader is as unique and convincing of a theme as there is.

Useless fact: I have a CD w/many Williams movie themes and it includes a few comments. Did you know that the Superman and Darth Vader themes were designed to be polar opposites of one another? (Who'd win that fight anyway?)
