Ok, I think it is easier to start with a few websites which will help show the different traditions -- and discuss their formation and history somewhat. There really is alot of information to explain, and these websites work well at bringing up the very basics.

First, look here -- it has a chart -- which will be useful to see -- of the different Apostolic Churches and their Communions.

http://www.byzantinecatholic.org/history/page6.html

From there, go to the website's description of the history of the traditions, starting here: http://www.byzantinecatholic.org/history/index.html

Then I would suggest this document called, "Eastern Catholics in the United States" here: http://www.cin.org/east/eastcathamer.html

After reading these, feel free to ask more questions, and I will have a base I can use to answer them.
