Subject: comments on the yahoo group regarding names in a song

Just to comment on some current songs with names mentioned off the top of my head. I know of Jenny a song called Jenny Wren in McCartneys Chaos and Creations CD and I know there are many, many more when I think of them I wil post them.
I myself find names to be exquisite when mentioned in a song in fact I love it. Names like Elizabeth, Mandy, Sarah, Cathy (Pf's Raised on Records) now become melodic names reminding us of the melody that is contained in the name thus the name has a melody attached to it BECAUSE of the songwriters mention of the name.. I think it's nice to know that songs like Annie's Song, Sarah Smile, and Is It Any Wonder Elizabeth are kind of magical because the name IS mentioned inside the melody that becomes unforgettable. As beautiful as the name Elizabeth is so is the melody where the name is mentioned. Pf wrote a beautiful melody to a beautiful name.
I think it's the meaning that we give to the name itself, that perhaps you are protesting,as we either like a name or we don't and I can't tell you why. What happens if you like the melody but not the name and visa versa.. Take a name you don't like and put it to a melody you do like and then see how you feel. It's easy to isolate. For me, I like to hear names mentioned in a song because I feel the songwriter is sharing with me a part of himself and I like that as he is kind of telling me where he is at. Whether the names are fictional or real they are there in the song for a purpose such as this. And left to our imaginations...

Sue (Like in a boy named Sue but I'm not a guy)
