An interesting thought, angel didn't get his soul this time from the gypsy curse, it was from the funky ninja guy. So does that stipulation of the curse still apply? I didn't know that spike would be on angel, so i really thought he was dead, or deader then he usually is. An episode like chosen really shows how much the show got lost without joss, i was watching it as much out of a feeling of obligation as anything else. Also, what ever happened with Joyce's prediction that buffy would not choose dawn. Was that a reference to sending her away with xander? It's kind of like the A-1 or snyder's consperacy thing, it was never fully explored.
