That would have really been a crushing finale to have Xander die, and it was more fitting to have Anya die than Xander. I don't really care for his charcater, but he goes way back, and that would have been too sad. Plus, how could they possibly have cracked so many jokes at then end with him dead? As I was reading the script I had a wonderful time imaging that scene with all of them walking down the hall with the memeories and voices and flashbacks to where it all began...that would have been nice, but I Joss did a decent job of Scooby nostalgia. I went back and watched episode 1 of season 1 and of course teared up some.

The actual finale was well-done, and ended better than the finale, even if they never really wrapped up the Dawn enigma. There was a little more with Angel, but oh well. Can't wait for angel next season!
