Electronic Voice Phenomenon

Electronic Voice Phenomenon a.k.a. EVP's is electrical impulse from your guides or others in spirit, that is captured on tape recordings.
I must start out by saying this phenomenon is not for everyone. Especially if you are thinking of taping in your own home. Talking with different people on EVP's, I have learned though most who suspect or know they have an entity in their home, after doing a EVP, they feel like they have lost their privacy and lost their sense of security. . If the spirit realm makes you nervous or afraid, I would suggest that you wait until you feel comfortable in their co existence with us.
The following discussion is based on my own experiences and knowledge of Electronic Voice Phenomenon.

How Do I Start?

Equipment:

Most any tape recorder will do. Some people say you should have an external microphone to avoid motor sounds. If a microphone is not in your budget, it is ok. It is not mandatory to have one. Each recorder has it's own little noises it makes. Get to know your machine.
Always start out with a brand new tape. Never use a tape that has been recorded on. This way if you pick up a voice, there is no room for doubt or disputes.

SHOULD I BUY A SPECIAL BRAND OF TAPE:

I myself use the SONY brand, but that is because the closest store near me is K Mart, that's the brand they sell. I think any good quality brand tape would work just as well. Again, always make sure it is a new tape.

Getting Started:

If you have tried to record with no success, I would recommend in the beginning, you tell the spirit around you that you are going to record on a special day date & time. Ask them if they will respond to your questions with a strong voice. I also suggest you tell them repeatedly till the time you start to record.

When the time comes, select an area where you feel the activity is, point to the microphone; ask them to talk directly into the microphone. Ask them one question at a time, and then turn your machine on, record for about 15 - 20 minutes. If after that time period, you do not receive an answer, repeat your question and record again.

DO I NEED BACKGROUND NOISE:

Some people feel they need to run water, turn the television or a radio on an in between channel. I myself never needed to do this. I find that if the spirits want to talk, you do not need any outside interference. So I think this recommendation is a personal technique. Again, I never used that technique, and have successfully recorded voices.

LISTENING TO THE RECORDINGS:

The best way to listen to an EVP recording is with headphones.

ALL I HAVE IS STATIC

When I first started recording, all I got was static, or that is what I thought. One day, I put the recorder on, placed it in my main bathroom, then left the house for 2 hours or more. When I returned home, I listen to the tape, all that I could hear was a little bit of music and a loud crashing sound. Checking my home out, I could not account for anything that could have caused the crashing sound. I live in an isolated area with only fury & feather critters for neighbors. An outside happening didn't cause the crashing sound.
I sent the tape to a person I had met on IRC, his name is En, and En is equipped with a filtering device. He filtered this tape for me. Under all that static, I had 14 voices, music & unexplained noises.
Just because you have static, does not mean you did not get a voice. With experience, you will learn to train your ears to listen to sounds under the static. Wearing headphones will help you learn to do this.

WHY ARE SOME VOICES MUFFLED AND OTHERS CLEAR:

Honestly, I don't have a factual answer for that. I feel, after talking to some people, that it takes a lot of energy for them to talk. That is why it is suggested to ask them to get a strong voice.
The spirits that come in with a strong voice will normally always have a strong voice.
I've had voices sounding as clear as if they were/are in human form, some sound as though they are in a tunnel, another sounded like it was caught in a windstorm. With others sounding so far & distant. There are lots of theories wondering around out there on this, just keep in mind, that is what they are theories.

WHAT KIND OF QUESTIONS DO I ASK:

Depending on the situation, here are a few you might try in the beginning.

Is anyone here?

What is your name?

Are you here for anyone special (can insert names of people who are living in the house)?

Do you have a message?

Just remember, if you ask stupid questions, either you will get silence or a stupid remark.

WILL I ALWAYS HAVE TO TAKE THESE STEPS TO DO AN EVP:

No, as you progress along you will just take out & record while walking around. Remember not just cemeteries or houses have spirits, grounds, fields, woods etc.


Can I GET A EVP ON A CAM CORDER:

Yes, many a person has picked up on a spirit's voice while video taping. They may not have gotten a spiritual image just the voice. This could be a fun way to test if any of your relatives that are in spirit have a happy message to give you.

CAN I DO A EVP WHILE MEDITATING:

Yes. Another fun test to try. When in meditation or even doing a spiritual healing, if you use different lighting, as in red, it can & has been know to attract a spirit. If your Guide has a message you may not need to ask any questions.

I WAS TOLD 2 PEOPLE NEEDED TO DO EVP 's AT THE SAME TIME:

No, you do not need a buddy system to do EVP's. It is nice if you have a buddy that gets the same message you do. To share your messages and even to validate that it really is a message. Sometimes we humans need validation. LOL

FILTER DEVICES:

I am sorry to say I do not know anything about the filtering devices. I was told once you can Down Load off one from the net. I do not have this information, if anyone does and cares to share, we would appreciate it.
I myself would not filter my own tapes. I feel to do so can bring on conflicts about authenticy of the tape.

I think you will get more cooperation if you treat the spirits with the same kind of respect you want given to yourself.


SHOULD I ACKNOWLEDGE A SPIRIT THAT TALKED:
Yes, sometimes you may just get a "HI". Always acknowledge them. You may try and ask the spirit who it is. A lot of times they just say HI and nothing else.


WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET FRIGHTEN AND WANT TO STOP THE COMMUNICATION:

Just remember that Spirit Communication doesn't have an on/off valve. Once you open the door to communications, it is very hard to close. Most spirits knows us better than we know ourselves. If they feel you aren't ready for this step, they may not communicate. You can always tell them you aren't ready for this and will not continue on with the communication.


I WANT TO TRY & THINK I CAN HANDLE IT, I AM A BIT NERVOUS:

If you think you are ready to try EVP's and comfortable with the idea that spirits do and can talk to us, but your still just a bit nervous. Try it during daylight hours till you get your first strong voice. Daylight Hours might help you feel less nervous.


SHOULD THERE BE COMPLETE SILENCE:

In the beginning I highly recommend you have complete silence in recording. As I stated before, there are some voices that sound like they are in an echo chamber, wind tunnel or very distant. Until you can recognize a spirit voice, I do recommend quiet when recording.



I HEARD THAT EVP'S WAS RESIDULE FROM THE PAST;

I have heard that also. I would think in some cases it just very well might be. I have gotten EVP's that I know for a fact is from the present and not the past, because of their message. As the experience I just shared with X.


This is a recommendation on how to start doing EVP's. You will reach a point where you'll just walk around wit a recorder or just record when you feel you have a enity present. I don't have a 100% communication record. Alot of times I record with out getting a message. Don't give up. Reme,ber onc you get them to talk, it is hard to keep them quiet. lol

Remember EVP's aren't for everyone. Be honest with yourself, ask if you are really ready to do this. You may not get an answer you were expecting. Always but always treat the spirits with respect with your questions and responses.
