Hello everyone!

Well, where do I start?? My name is Bev and I'm 35, married (very
supportive and understanding husband), and have two kids (girl 10, boy 6).
I live in Paradise, (yes, it really IS called that!!) Newfoundland, Canada.
Paradise is a suburb just outside of the capital city (St. John's - the
oldest city in North America!)

I started having problems that were noticable last year. Perhaps I've had
them for years, now that I look back on things, but they were so fleeting I
didn't really pay any attention to them. Well, last summer I couldn't
ignore it anymore. The entire right side of my body went numb and tingly,
lasted for 6 days (scared the poop out of me!). I thought I was having a
stroke. I had just started taking the pill again after several years and
remembered that over the age of 35 things can happen..I blamed it on that,
and so did my doctor. Had a CT scan - normal (thank God).

The numbness went away, so I forgot about it again for a few weeks. Then
my hearing went "funny" (don't know how to describe it) in my right
ear..lasted for 4 days and then went away. Then I developed pain (lasting
anywhere from minutes to hours) in my left eye and a lovely dark spot in my
right eye, right in my field of vision. Went to eye doctor..he says it's a
"floater", not serious but annoying. Other than that, I have had no visual
problems (knock on wood, LOL). Well, throughout all of this I have had my
legs, hips, face, arms, hands, you name it, go numb and tingling off and on
ever since. It can last anywhere from seconds to days. I also get an
"electric shock" feeling down my arms sometimes..like a quick flash of
electricity from my shoulders to my fingers..then it's gone. I also go the
the bathroom every tick of the clock..feels like I'm bursting to go, but
sometimes only a wee bit comes out...very annoying.

Anyway, sorry to ramble guys, my family doctor (who, by the way, is
fantastic!) sent me to a neuro. Now, you have to understand Canada's
speedy health care system! I was referred to the neuro in September, and
got the appointment in January! Saw neuro in January, he's very good and
runs the MS clinic here in Newfoundland. He immediately suspected MS.
Apparently I have hyper reflexes in my legs (oh yea, I also have "restless
leg syndrome..forgot about that one for a second!), and a color recognition
problem (red and green look lighter or darker with each eye). He sent me
for evoked potentials (done the following week..normal) and an MRI
(appointment for MRI not until JULY!!!!!).

So, this is where I am at the moment. Patiently waiting for July 19 to
roll around and get the MRI done. Meanwhile I'm buzzing, tingling,
shaking, and itching (did I mention the itching!!) everywhere!

I think that's enough for now, I haven't said that much about myself in
years! LOL.
