My name is Joan. I live in southern Indiana. I am one of the older ones in the group...checking in a 40!! I hope you will let us know more about you. I
am divorced raising 2 kids....son 15 and daughter 12.

I started having numbness in arms when pg with second child. Dr said it would go away after delivery. Well it didnt but I didnt bother to say anything more. Then a few years ago I had double vision. Still didnt say anything to a dr. Went to the eye dr and he put a prism in lenses. Took care of it for a few years. Then vision started blurring, I started having more numbness this time in foot. And also was waking up with a numb face.
That is when I decided to say something to the dr. Was sent to a neuro and had my first brain MRI. When it came back normal I was told by this neuro that basically it was all in my head and to go home and shut up. So I went
to the eye dr figuring I just needed new glasses. He tells me there is something wrong with my optic nerve and I need to see a neuro. Told him been there done that not going back. He told me I really should go back.
Well I waited another month before I called. In the mean time I fell 3 times in one week. Think that is what convinced me to go. So I went to the MS Center in Indianapolis. When I got there the optic nerve thing had
resolved itself tho so looked fine to the MS dr. But at least it was on record at the eye dr that it actually happened. I have since had 3 more MRI's. All normal. I had visual evoked potentials. Normal again. I have
not had a spinal tap. MS dr said to wait on that one. They have suspected hormones....thorasic outlet syndrome among other things....all came back normal. So why do I feel like this! Very frustrating to say the least. I
thought I was the only one like this so I figured I must be crazy. Then I found lots of others saying the same things I was saying. I was shocked!
Relieved I Maaybe wasnt crazy. My family (parents and siblings) think I am nuts tho. They tell me there is no need to go to the dr cause they can't find anything wrong with me. Gee thanks for the support family! NOT. Just
recently I have had some bladder problems. Hesitancy and then a UTI. That was the first part of April. I havent felt very good since then. The
numbness is back with full force in my arms and face. My lips are novacaine numb. One of these days I will get up the guts to go back to the MS Center.
It is a very expensive trip to make and that is the last thing I have money for is a trip to a dr for myself right now. I was due back there in March
but cancelled it.

I hope I have not bored you with such a long email. And sorry to the ppl
who have seen all this before.

Joan
