I am 25 and just married, just out of school. I live near Toronto, Ontario, Canada and work as a technical writer.

I've been having various problems since I was about 15. At first, my knees started locking, then it was my jaw. I also had a lot of muscle pain. Around 17 I got mono and chicken pox and was sick for about 6 months. Just before I started university, I was diagnosed with a mild heart murmur.

In my first year, I developed intermittant double vision which came up when I was tired. For awhile I wasn't sure whether it was the effort of refocusing my vision that made me tired or the fatigue causing my vision problems. I also develped some muscle weakness which has recently worsened.

Throughout university I developed severe fatigue, a strange buzzing type sensation in my legs, Raynaud's phenomenon (sensitivity to cold in hands & feet), and dizziness.

During my Masters, I noticed that I was having real problems with memory and logic. I couldn't always remember how to turn off my car or what articles I'd read. I couldn't always follow what people were saying ( a real problem for presentations) and I couldn't tell how things related to each other (very strange since I've always been very logical). Also my vision seemed 'jumpy', for lack of a better word and I developed hyper reflexes.

Over the years, I've been sent to an orthopedic surgeon, rheumatologist, and now a neurologist, no results so far, though I'm currently waiting to see how my evoked potentials went and waiting til mid-Sept. for an MRI.

I've had positive ANA (1:320) and low thyroid (going to another dr. about that tonight!).

Basically it has been very frustrating over the years waiting months to see a specialist, then being dismissed, waiting months to see another, who says that whatever is wrong with me, it isn't his speciality. I'm very glad to have found this forum with others with similar stories and frustrations.
