This is a great question! I have been wondering about this too. I, for instance, have been having a strange symptom where after I pet my cat (or touch anything lightly) my hand will tingle badly for a few minutes afterwards. I have asked about it here and on MGH and gotten no response, so I wonder if nobody with MS does experience it. I know that it is a common sx in diabetic neuropathies and now has me wondering about that. I'll be interested to see what others have to say about this.

As for your specific gasping symptom, it sounds to me that it could be caused by a general autonomic neuropathy that can be caused by diabetes and other systemic diseases, as well as in MS.
