Subject: What constitutes abuse?

Hi All,
I have been reading the posts about the outside dog, "Are you ok with this?" I realize that the ideal situation is for dogs to have access to the house, but this is just not realistic! There are millions of unwanted dogs abandoned & euthanised every year for want of a home. I don't have a problem with outdoor only dogs. If they have shade & plenty of clean water, 99.9% will be just fine. I agree that we should do what we can to make them comfortable, but petsitters are not "the dog police". What will happen to these dogs if the owners can never take a vacation because they keep getting lectures from people who are supposed to be providing a service? Maybe one more dog dropped off at the pound? I think it's better to be in a yard with food, water & an owner who cares enough to hire a sitter, than to be abandoned, at the pound, or dead! Just my opinion. ~Sandi~
