I've got an SRI a few years older, and had exactly the same problem, especialy when hot. In the end I changed all of the gaskets possible on the inlet side of things (Inlet manifold, throttle body housing, injector seals etc etc) and it cured it. Somewhere there was an air leak, which was giving a false reading on the Airflow/mass and temp sensor so the ECU was over compensating running it "rich" subsequently cutting the engine when Idling, the fuel economy went through the floor as well!!!!
