How more pretentious can one confirm it than by saying "Yes, it's been confirmed". Whatever happened to the good ol'e "yes, it's true, they're engaged" Bah.
I totally agree with you that if they made such a big deal out of waiting to get married, then why make this big spectacle out of getting engaged? Just skip the fancy bauble and get married already, preferably in a nice and private ceremony. After 7 yrs and 6 kids, really, who needs a big show??
